Naughty Dog seems to be working on a remake for The Last of Us and if reports prove to be accurate, this highly anticipated game could even be nearing completion.
The news comes from a keen observer going by Joanastic on Twitter who noted a line referring to “quality assurance testing and development support” for an as of yet “unannounced remake project” on the LinkedIn profile of a worker at Naughty Dog by the name of Corey Hong. This person has apparently been doing quality assurance work at the company since 2019. In addition to the “unannounced remake,” Hong seems to have contributed to the development of The Last of Us Part 2.

Speculation about a remake for The Last of Us began last April in the wake of reports that work on the project was currently underway. These noted how the game was in development at the PlayStation Visual Arts Service Group immediately prior to the studio being relegated to a support role on the project. The remake now seems to be in development at Naughty Dog which took over after completing work on The Last of Us Part 2 in 2020.
Players have been discussing the possibility of a remake for The Last of Us coming out at some point this year for the PS5. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, the game appears to be nearing completion according to insider sources who spoke to the news outlet under condition of anonymity.
President at Naughty Dog Neil Druckmann mentioned how the developer was “dying to share” what he described as “multiple game projects” at the Sony Consumer Electronics Show back in January. Whether or not these “multiple game projects” include a remake for The Last of Us remains to be seen.
