Director Antoine Fuqua shares how Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning reunited for The Equalizer 3. Originally a television series of the same name, the property was adapted into the popular film in 2014, with a sequel, The Equalizer 2, arriving in theaters in 2018. The franchise follows Robert McCall (Washington), a former U.S. Marine and DIA intelligence officer who uses his skills to track down criminals in vigilante-style justice. The first film saw McCall protect Alina (Chloë Grace Moretz) from the Russian mob, while the second film featured him on a mission to avenge one of his old friends.
It was recently announced that Fanning would join the cast of The Equalizer 3, reuniting the actor with Washington since their praised pairing in the 2004 movie Man on Fire. In that film, Washington portrayed former CIA agent John Creasy, who was hired as a personal bodyguard for Lupita Ramos (Fanning). When a daring kidnapping attempt succeeds, Creasy leads a one-man crusade across Mexico to retrieve the young girl and deliver her back to her mother. Only 10-years-old when Fanning took the role, the film proved that the child actor had nowhere else to go but up with her budding Hollywood career.
