The Elder Scrolls Online ispreparing for next month’s Scions of Ithelia launch with a new preview of one of the DLC’s dungeons: Oathsworn Pit. The dungeon takes place in a place known as a training ground for Malacath loyalists, and has been taken over by a group of Wood Elves.
The lore ties to Oathsworn Pit are entirely intentional. Writer and designer Helena Wachhaus details the premise before players: “The Oathsworn recently welcomed a group of Wood Elves to the pit, but the newcomers betrayed their trust. It’s up to the players to deal out Malacath’s vengeance and rescue what remains of the Oathsworn before they’re all killed”. The team decided to explore various sides of this particular Daedric Prince that they felt deserved another look, particularly as he is considered misunderstood.
Malacath is not just a prince, he’s known by many titles, but one of them, Mauloch the Lord of the Sworn Oath — Defender of the Betrayed–is important to the Orcs and how they view him. Of course, Malacath is vengeful, and that weighs heavily in the dungeon and the goal within it. There is another lore reason to do this now –those Wood Elves? They are the Recollection, one of the majorfactions important to the next Chapter, Gold Road.
Speaking of Orcs, Bazrag makes an appearance and helps you out in getting rid of the invaders. He will help you out in battling the invaders, avoiding traps, and teaching you some important lessons.
The dungeon features three bosses: Rethelros, Anthelmir, and Aradros the Awakened. Rethelros and his wolf, Malthil will challenge you to take up strategic positioning and keep you on your toes. Anthelmir and her construct will also test your ability to avoid their fiery attack and take even more strategic positioning. Finally, Aradros will, again, require strategic positioning and to be able to move and fight against even more fiery enemy attacks, including a game of The Floor is Lava.
