The Coalition is moving on to “future projects.” That’s the news we received today after The Coalition published a tweet about removing the Gears of War 5 map builder.
"PSA: We’re removing #Gears5 Map Builder and unlocking its achievements for all players as the team focus on future projects," wrote The Coalition, adding that those who have already unlocked the “I Made it All By Myself” and “Homegrown Hive” achievements will receive 10,000 Coins.

The achievements should automatically pop up after you install the update. If you don’t, reboot the game, and they should come up. That said, if you dealt with Gears 5’s custom maps at all, it’s fairly likely you’ve already unlocked both achievements. The first one just required you to create and publish a map, while the second was unlocked after completing a feature map.
As for those “future projects,” the last we heard from The Coalition was at last year’s GDC where the studio unveiled its Alpha Point UE5 tech demo. The demo also touched off rumors that The Coalition’s new IP will be based on the tech demo or at least feature mechanics used in Alpha Point. Whatever this new IP is, it’s rumored to have a 2023 release window.
