The Amazon Prime original series The Boysis a fantastic adaptation of the original comic with uniquely clever alterations made to enhance the storyline of the show. One aspect of the original comic book series that the show hasn’t adapted, however, is the incredibly dark take on superhero resurrection, and it is something fans of The Boysneed to see.
One of the best examples of the horrors behind The Boys’ supe resurrection is shown in The Boys#19 by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. In the issue, Starlight and A-Train are tasked with cleaning up a hidden area within the Seven’s headquarters while tending to the needs of the person who resides within that area. The two members of the Seven don’t know what they are walking into as they descend the ladder to the designated location, and upon their arrival, they are shocked to look upon who, or what, is down there. Off-panel, before The Boysseries began, Lamplighter was killed and then resurrected to save face in the public eye, but the version of Lamplighter who came back, the one Starlight and A-Train met with this issue, isn’t something that should be kept alive.

When he was alive, Lamplighter in the comics was very much like his live-action adaptation with a similar look and exactly the same power set. However, when Lamplighter died in The Boysseason 2, it looks as though he will stay dead which sadly cannot be said for the original comic book iteration.
