Netflix cancels The Baby-Sitters Club after two seasons. The comedy-drama series made its debut in July of 2020 and is based on Ann M. Martin’s children’s book series by the same name. The story follows a group of school friends who decide to form their own babysitting service whilst navigating the difficulties of growing up. Starring in the series are Sophie Grace, Momona Tamada, Shay Rudolph, and Malia Baker. They are also joined by Alicia Silverstone, Vivian Watson, Kyndra Sanchez, Anais Lee, Mark Feuerstein, and Marc Evan Jackson.
Now, Variety confirms that Netflix has opted to cancel The Baby-Sitters Club after two seasons. Lamenting the news in a statement, series creator Rachel Shukert called the show a “dream come true” adding that while “heartbroken” she was grateful to Netflix for allowing her to bring Baby-Sitters Club to the small screen. Production company Walden Media also stated that while “saddened” by the news, it looked forward to creating future iterations of Martin’s work.

The second season of The Baby-Sitters Club arrived on Netflix in October 2021. Rising to number 9 in the English-language category upon its release, the show did not maintain its place in the top ten for that month. Though the streamer did not release an official explanation for the cancellation, it's possible that lower-than-expected viewership played a part. Despite this, The Baby-Sitters Club has been praised by critics and fans alike for its wholesome handling of Martin’s book series and continues to claim a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
