Galactus might be one of the strongest beings in the Marvel Universe, but even without the Infinity Stones, Thanos' true power shined in a fight against the Devourer of Worlds. In Thanos (2003) from Marvel Comics, the Mad Titan breaks into Galactus' ship to stop him from unleashing a great evil upon the Cosmos. Thanos ends up hitting Galactus with a blast of energy so powerful that it makes the cosmic juggernaut look weak.
Few heroes or villains rival the power of Galactus, as the cosmic entity is one of the most destructive beings in all of existence, feeding on planets to cure his insatiable hunger and bring balance to the universe. However, the Devourer of Worlds' true power can't be measured thanks to the Power Cosmic. He can manipulate energy and reality and do many incredible things. It means that taking down or killing Galactus is only possible through stunning displays of power. However, Thanos once made the cosmic entity look somewhat weak in a fight after hitting him with a blast hard enough that it got the cosmic giant's full attention.

In Thanos #4 by Jim Starlin, Al Milgrom, Christie Scheele, and Dave Sharpe from Marvel Comics, Thanos agreed to help an alien society take on Galactus. In the comic, the Devourer of Worlds managed to obtain the Infinity Stones and use them to create a device he believed could cure his hunger. However, Galactus was tricked by the villain, the Hunger, whose secret mission was a backdoor plan for the entity to be freed.
