Tata Digital has finally launched its much awaited super app Tata Neu for all users in India today, April 7. The all-in-one application will rival Amazon and Reliance Jio platforms, which offer similar services. The Tata Neu app brings a host of services including booking hotel and airline tickets, grocery, electronics, mobiles, fashion, beauty, luxury, food and beverages, health, entertainment and more under one umbrella. The app also offers a wide range of rewards and discounts on products and services, making it a lucrative offer for users. Although, like most platforms, these offers might be a transient strategy to get more users onboard it.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, chairman of the board of Tata Sons said, “It is a Neu day today! Tata Digital, the youngest member of the Tata family, brings you Tata Neu today”. Describing the potential of the app and its use case, he explained, “Tata Neu is an exciting platform that gathers all our brands into one powerful app. Combining our traditional consumer-first approach with the modern ethos of technology, it is an all-new way to discover the wonderful world of Tata.”
Tata Neu is being called a super app due to its versatility and large use cases it can serve using a single platform. A user can potentially buy a cup of coffee, get themselves some new clothes, pay bills and order groceries without ever needing to leave the application. In terms of diversity, the app closely matches China’s WeChat which also offers similar services and has captured a huge market share due to its functionality. It remains to be seen whether Tata Neu app achieves a similar fiat in India.
