Magic does exist in the world of Tales of Arise and in the Tales series in general. There are what some may consider mages in the game, like Rinwell, but most magical spells come in the form of attacks with weapons. There are more elemental-assisted techniques than pure spells in Tales of Arise, much like anime on which this game is designed around.
Tales Of Arise: Best Skills For The Early Game
This series calls them Artes. Each character only has one standard attack, R1 on the PS5, and face buttons that are mapped to Artes. Artes can be acquired randomly in battle by increasing a character's proficiency, unlocked via the Skill Panel by using Skill Points (SP), or by purchasing DLC. The first ten hours of the game focus on four of the main characters: Alphen, Shionne, Law, and Rinwell.
