T-Mobile's New Go5G Next Plan Lets You Upgrade Your Phone Every Year
T-Mobile has been very aggressive when it comes to differentiating itself from the other two wireless carriers. Its latest move is a new plan called Go5G Next that will give new and existing customers the option to upgrade their phones every year.
T-Mobile says this is not a limited-time offer and will exist "always in the future."
Once you are on the Go5G Next plan, you will be eligible for an upgrade once you've paid off half the phone. T-Mobile says that the soonest you can upgrade a phone under this plan is six months as long as half of the entire payment is made.
Once those money and time conditions are met, you can trade in your old phone to T-Mobile and the company will pay off the rest of your no-interest payment plan. Then, you receive a new phone with a new interest-free payment plan. The company says that because its payment plans are 24 months, in most cases customers will be eligible for an upgrade in 12 months.
Pricing starts at $100 per month for one line if you have autopay enabled with other options being $170 for two lines, $180 for three, and $225 for four. Apart from how quickly you can upgrade your phone and price points, the Go5G Next plan is identical to T-Mobile's Go5G Plus plan. The Go5G Next plan also includes several perks like Apple TV+, Netflix (Basic for a single line, Standard for a family plan), free in-flight Wi-Fi, and 50GB of hotspot data.
The company also introduced Go5G Business Next. You get the same deal when it comes to phone upgrades, but with slightly different perks, including 100GB of mobile hotspot data, Microsoft 365, and Secure Wi-Fi VPN.
The new Go5G Next plans will be available on Thursday, Aug. 24.
