Emmy Award nominees Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) and D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming dark comedy-drama titled, Sunny Nights. The series is set to make its debut on the Australian streaming platform Stan.
This marks Forte’s latest TV project as the lead, after recently starring in the Netflix dark comedy thriller Bodkin. He is currently attached to lead two animated shows this year, including Disney+’s Win or Lose, and Prime Video’s Sausage Party: Foodtopia. As for Carden, this marks her first major TV series since last starring in Prime Video’s short-lived A League of Their Own series.
“The series will follow siblings Martin (Forte) and Vicki (Carden) Marvin who venture to Sydney determined to start their spray tan business,” reads the logline (via Deadline)” When they get caught up in the city’s criminal underworld, they must figure out how to stay alive, out of prison and in the black. It’s billed as “a story of how a little bit of sun, a change of scenery, and a touch of violent crime can help a person find their true self.”
Sunny Nights is written and created b Nick Keetch and Ty Freer, with Trent O’Donnell directing and executive producing. Forte and Carden will also be joined by Rachel House (Heartbreak High), Jessica De Gouw (The Drover’s Wife), Megan Wilding (Gold Diggers), Ra Chapman (Wentworth), Miritana Hughes (Preacher), George Mason (Black Snow), Matuse (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga) and former professional rugby league player Willie Mason. Production on the series is now underway in New South Wales.
