One of the Suicide Squad stars strongly believes that David Ayer's cut of the 2016 movie will be released someday. Since the Task Force X franchise got its cinematic treatment almost six years ago, it has been a rollercoaster for the group. Warner Bros originally plannedSuicide Squad to be a complex and gritty exploration of various DC villains. However, likeZack Snyder'sJustice League cut, Ayer's DC product had his vision tampered with by Warner Bros.
When Warner Bros. saw the reaction to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the studio felt the need to make last-minute changes to Suicide Squad and its overall tone. The changes included increasing the film's comedy while removing vital elements of Ayer's initial plot. Warner Bros cut at least 40 minutes of footage from the movie before it hit theaters in 2016. As a result, a campaign known as «Release the Ayer Cut,» similar to what fans did for Snyder's Justice League, has existed for the last couple of years.
