Three new playable combatants have just been confirmed for Street Fighter 6, including a pair of fan favorites from past entries and a brand-new World Warrior. The next installment in Capcom’s hard-hitting fighting franchise was first announced last February following a cryptic countdown, with the resulting Street Fighter 6 trailer giving fans a look at an aged Ryu in combat against Street Fighter 5 newcomer Luke.
In the many months since then, Capcom has been slowly pulling back the curtain on Street Fighter 6’s colorful new art style, sandbox-style World Tour campaign mode, and multiplayer Battle Hub lobby. Some of the game’s growing roster of playable fighters have also been unveiled, ranging from returning mainstays like Street Fighter 6's Chun-Li to newcomers like the drunken Kung-Fu fighter Jamie. With Street Fighter 6's release date still several months away, there is plenty of time for Capcom to reveal more of the ever-growing cast of martial artists players will be able to control and battle against.

Such an opportunity came during the latest PlayStation State of Play livestream, which provided viewers with a new Street Fighter 6 trailer. During this brief montage of gameplay footage, three new playable characters were unveiled. The first would be Zangief, the colossal Russian wrestler that players were first introduced to in 1991’s record-breaking Street Fighter 2. The second is Lilly, a brand-new character that calls upon spiritual forces to unleash devastating wind attacks against her foes.
