Steven Yeun is the latest to join the cast of the Mickey7 movie adaptation. Oscar-winning director Bong Joon Ho is helming the ambitious sci-fi dystopia based on the book of the same name by Edward Ashton. The novel focuses on the expendable Mickey, a space traveler who takes up suicidal tasks to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Every time Mickey dies, he is recloned, but due to some confusion there comes a time when two Mickeys coexist. Robert Pattinson is leading the cast of Mickey7, with Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette confirmed to co-star.
Now, Deadline reports that Mickey7 has expanded its stellar ensemble, casting The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun in a pivotal role. Details about Yeun's character are being kept under wraps at this point, but his casting is an interesting development as it reteams the Invincible star with Ho, producer Dooho Choi, and Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment after the defiantly eclectic Netflix action-adventure movie Okja.

At the moment, there is not much that is known about the Mickey7 movie, let alone about Yeun's character. The movie isn't due to begin production until August, so presumably, information about Yeun's role, as well as other story details will remain obscure until then. Yeun is coming off career-best work in Lee Isaac Chung's Minari, and Ho and Pattinson have obviously found great success with their recent projects Parasite and The Batman respectively. Yeun's casting, therefore, makes for a powerful team-up in Mickey7,raising the stakes higher for the film. It will be interesting to see what this collaboration of talents would entail, but the casting choices certainly point to a bright future for the upcoming
