The latest adaptation of Stephen King'sSalem's Lot has been pushed back to 2023. Salem's Lot was published in 1975 and tells the story of a writer named Ben Mears, who returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot and discovers that residents are being turned into vampires. King has frequently said that Salem's Lot (only his second published novel) is one of his favorite works.
Salem's Lot has seen multiple adaptations throughout the years, starting with a two-part TV miniseries in 1979 and then a sequel film in 1987, A Return to Salem's Lot, which was loosely based on King's work. In 2004, Salem's Lot was again adapted as a two-part TV miniseries, this time with Rob Lowe in the role of Ben Mears and Rutger Hauer as the lead vampire, Kurt Barlow. The new feature film adaptation of Salem's Lot is directed by Gary Dauberman (Annabelle Comes Home). It stars Lewis Pullman as Mears, Pilou Asbaek as Richard Straker, and William Sadler, supposedly cast as Kurt Barlow.
