Steam returns to Indonesia
pcgamesinsider.bizValve has decided to play ball with new rules introduced in Indonesia.
That's according to Niko Partners' Daniel Ahmad, who posted on Twitter that the Steam giant has registered with the country's Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo). As a result, Valve's games, such as Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, are now once again playable in Indonesia, while its Steam storefront is also available.
Ahmad says that Epic Games Store and EA Origins are still blocked in the country, with neither companies confirming whether they intend to register with Kominfo.
Of the companies initially blocked, PayPal and Yahoo have also signed up and have therefore are now allowed in Indonesia.
The good news is that Valve has registered with Kominfo and Steam is now officially unblocked and accessible in Indonesia. However, Epic Games Store / Services and EA's Origin still remained blocked and there is no official confirmation on whether they plan to register yet. https://t.co/0BwK16Hpzl
Word that Indonesia had blocked a number of foreign tech and games companies following the introduction of new regulations broke earlier this week.
