While the Arrowverse has had some emotional rollercoasters in its years, 2022 is becoming its biggest one yet. Normally, The CW renews the majority of their DC TV properties, since they have become a flagship franchise for the WarnerMedia and Paramount-owned network. However, this year kicked off with the surprise that the two studios are looking to sell The CW after 16 years, since The WB and UPN did their merger.
While a new owner has yet to purchase The CW, it caused the network to delay its renewals and cancellations for the 2022-2023 TV season, and The CW has even ordered fewer pilots than usual. Even though Arrowverse dramas such as The Flash andSuperman & Lois were handed another season, some of the other DC TV shows weren't as lucky. Within the last few weeks, The CW officially cancelled Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and DC TV newcomer Naomi. Since Gotham Knights was picked up to series, The CW has only 3 DC TV shows for its 2022-2023 slate. However, there is still one DC drama that has yet to learn its fate: Stargirl, season 3 of which is yet to premiere this year.
