After multiple delays and years of hype, it's now less than a month until Starfield is finally here. A month that will hopefully fly by since we're all now playing Baldur's Gate 3. Starfield might well require a little bit of your attention as soon as this Wednesday, though. That's because it looks like its preload will be available from August 9, allowing you to install the game so it's ready to go as soon as midnight hits in your part of the world on release day.
The reveal that Starfield's preload will potentially be available later this week was made on Amazon and spotted by stopmrdomino who proceeded to share their discovery on ResetEra. The preload info isn't on Amazon's Starfield page but instead included in the notes for the 1TB Xbox Series S bundle that comes with a copy of Bethesda's sprawling space RPG.

Whether you preload it as soon as you can or not, it's definitely recommended that you install Starfield before September 6. A game with 1,000 planets was always going to be big, and its Xbox Store listing has confirmed it will need an eye-watering 125GB of storage space. That's an eighth of the heftier Series S, and 25 percent of the launch version's total storage. Time to make some room if you need it and download it early so you're not left twiddling your thumbsticks on release day.
