Journalist Jeff Grubb claims Star Wars Jedi 2 will launch sometime in 2023 but won't bear the Fallen Order subtitle. Hints about a Jedi Fallen Order sequel first made the rounds in late 2019 via Respawn Entertainment job listings. Publisher Electronic Arts' immediate interest in a follow-up entry hardly came as a surprise, given the 2019 title's incredible critical and commercial success. While the sequel in question has yet to receive a formal reveal, EA and Lucasfilm Games did confirm earlier this year that a new Star Wars Jedi installment is in development with Respawn at the helm.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order launched at a pivotal time for Electronic Arts, a time wherein it seemed the company had nigh on abandoned single-player games in favor of multiplayer-focused, live-service ventures. Fortunately, Fallen Order performed above sales expectations, inspiring EA to revisit its internal plans for the potential of future single-player projects. In addition to doubling down on Star Wars Jedi, then, the publisher also greenlit the eagerly-anticipated Dead Space remake.

In a recent episode of Giant Bomb's premium Grubbsnax show (via VGC), VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claimed the next Star Wars Jedi game will only launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Apparently, EA and Respawn will skip last-gen consoles because the sequel is now on track to release in 2023. The focus on newer hardware should allow the development team to avoid straddling "generation[al] lines," Grubb explained, before alleging that Fallen Order will not serve as the game's subtitle.
