Beta Season 2 of Splitgate launches today, June 2, offering a wealth of new content for players, including new game modes, Map Creator updates, and the Abyss Remastered map. Splitgate’s Beta Season 1 released earlier this year, just a few months after Season 0, with players eagerly awaiting the next wave of new game content, all for free.

Following Splitgate’s beta launch in July 2021, the free-to-play shooter quickly became a household name thanks to its frenetic yet strategic gameplay, which has often been compared to classic series including Halo and Portal. Since its initial beta launch, the game has gone on to evolve and expand, with January’s Beta Season 1 introducing new game modes including Capture the Flag, an expansive Battle Pass, and a reimagining of the Forgone Destruction map. Since the launch of Beta Season 1, developer 1047 Games hasn’t shown signs of slowing down when it comes to the future of Splitgate.

Splitgate players can now delve into Beta Season 2 across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms, with the new content now live. While the 108-item Battle Pass and three new game modes should keep fans busy, it’s perhaps the remastered Abyss map that will garner the most attention. The new version of the ever-popular Abyss features new portal walls, enhanced visuals, and shifted geometry, offering a familiar yet new challenge for even the most seasoned players. The map’s architecture, lighting, and structures have all been overhauled to provide a smoother, more realistic experience, while tweaks to gameplay (including the addition of a gap in the wall underneath the Railgun spawn to increase navigation)
