This excitement is understandable as Nintendo provided fans with an in-depth look at what to expect from the upcoming title in a Nintendo Direct just over a week ago. While the developer revealed many things in this Nintendo Direct for Splatoon 3, another unexpected detail regarding the game has surfaced since then.
With Splatoon 3 only a few more weeks from launch, Nintendo has updated the file size for the game. According to the Nintendo eShop page for Splatoon 3, the title now requires only 4.3GB of free space in order to download. While the previous file size for the game was only 6GB, this reduction could still be significant for some as the original Switch only comes with roughly 32GB of storage, and some of that is used for the system. As a result, this reduction in file size might make freeing up space for the latest entry in the Splatoon series a little more manageable for some gamers.
Splatoon 3 Will Have Benefits for Veteran Players of the Franchise
It is interesting to see a reduction in file size from what was reported in April, but it is a welcome change nonetheless. This reduced file size for Splatoon 3 makes it a smaller game to download on the platform compared to several other recent Nintendo games. For example, Kirby and the Forgotten Land requires 5.7GB of space to download, while Xenoblade Chronicles 3 needs a larger 15GB download, both titles from 2022. In addition, this reduced size makes Splatoon 3 a smaller download compared to Splatoon 2, which came in at 6.1GB.
