A new release date update has been revealed by writers Phil Lord & Christopher Miller.
In 2023, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released, the sequel to the 2018 animated superhero film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Both movies in the series follow Miles Morales as Brooklyn’s one and only web-slinger as he travels the multiverse. They have been commercial and critical successes. With the cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse, fans may be wondering when we’ll see the next movie in the series.
Lord and Miller assured Digital Spy that the third Spider-Verse movie will release “when it is ready.” “Those conversations are thankfully above our paygrade, but I can tell you we’re already hard at work on it, and we’ll take the time it takes to make it great,” Lord said when asked for a Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse release date update.
“What we’re trying to accomplish with the film is have it be the most satisfying conclusion to the story than it can be, and take it to places that you haven’t been before. And make you laugh and cry, and cheer and think,” Miller added.
The movie currently has no release date. It was originally set for release on March 29, 2024, but has been taken off the calendar.
