The Soulsborne series of RPGs developed by FromSoftware are known for a few things. Usually, the games will feature a dark fantasy setting, where the player creates their own character in order to traverse the map and fight some extremely difficult bosses. There are plenty of other things that a FromSoftware fan will notice in every title from Demon's Souls to Elden Ring, such as the swamps that decorate at least a portion of every map in the Soulsborne games.
Often, fans like to debate which of these reoccurring features in the Soulsborne franchise is the best, or, in the case of swamps, which is the worst. Recently, fans have been discussing which game has the best fog door. Fog doors are the way in which players from Demon Souls to Elden Ring can face bosses. When interacting with the door, a player will encounter a short animation showing them step from one area to another. Essentially this helps prevent regular enemies from following players into boss rooms.
Elden Ring Concurrent Player Count Has Dropped Dramatically
Players debated over every entry in the Soulsborne series. However, notably missing from the lineup was FromSoftware's 2019 action game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This absence will likely make sense for the majority of Soulsborne fans, as Sekiro is not considered a part of the Soulsborne franchise according to FromSoftware, as it has too many mechanical differences between it and RPGs like Elden Ring. There have been some additions to Elden Ring based on Sekiro, such as the Samurai class and Malenia boss fight.
