Sonic fans have been in for a treat recently. Not only do we have the second Sonic movie to look forward to - a third has already been unveiled, alongside a Knuckles spin-off show. That's right, the Sonic Cinematic Universe is here, baby. Imagine going back in time like, five years and telling someone that.
Since we haven't even seen Sonic the Hedgehog 2 yet, we don't have any details on what we can expect from the third film. However, we do have its official logo, and for some fans that's more than enough. Based on the colour scheme used for the film's title, many in the community believe that it will centre around Sonic's edgy nemeses, Shadow and Metal Sonic.

It might seem like a reach at first, but the choice of a blue and red logo on a black background could reasonably be perceived as a tease. The second movie, which marks Tails' cinematic debut (in this universe, at least) incorporated him into the logo, so it's likely that this will happen again.
But if we're only getting one of the bad guys, who will it be? If we're following the rules of the games, which the first film admittedly didn't, then Metal Sonic should be Sonic's next foe. He was introduced in the 1993 game Sonic CD - actually predating Knuckles' debut. This would also be a good way to bring in Amy Rose, as this marked her first appearance too.
However, Shadow could be a popular pick. He is likely to be more well known than Metal Sonic, and as an organic being, is probably easier to write than a robot.
