Halo is getting its own Paramount+ TV show and so far, the trailer has made most people happy. Master Chief is a brooding hulk of a man, there's a first-person sequence paying homage to the games, and the Covenant look as grotesque as ever. But Cortana ain't blue so the fans ain't happy.
There's veering on the uncanny valley and then there's plunging into it - Cortana is plunging. The Halo show is live-action, adapting the games, but Cortana is a CGI rendition of a human in a world of 'real' people and aliens. What's more, there are no obvious indicators that she's an AI outside that uncanny valley effect.

The games' Cortana is blue with bright white eyes and circuit veins that make it obvious she's not a human or remotely organic. The show's Cortana is a CGI human, like Tarkin in Rogue One. The internet has collectively decided that she looks unsettling, that something isn't right, with some even comparing her to the original Sonic design.
Cortana has been trending on Twitter since the trailer dropped as fans stumble to share their opinion on her new look. Is anyone getting deja vu? It's Infinite all over again. Most of the top posts are negative, voicing the uncanny valley concerns and the inaccuracy of not having her blue, but some say it'll grow on people over time. It is a brief snippet from a short trailer, after all.
But there is a silver lining out there for the naysayers who aren't happy with this new Cortana - she's voiced by the same actor who portrayed her in the games.
