As one of the most successful RPGs ever made, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim has pretty much been a mainstay in gaming since it was released back in 2011. With a rumor that Bethesda could be releasing Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Switch at some point, a version of the game which was launched in 2021 to celebrate ten years, it seems as though the epic title is remaining in the limelight. This is all in spite of the fact that it's actually quite a buggy game and, while many are innocuous, some can give the world a creepy Silent Hill vibe.
Uploading a brief clip to the Skyrim subreddit recently, user BeRnUgEeK shows their character happily frolicking around the city of Whiterun, leaping about without a care in the world, when suddenly, something bizarre occurred. After emerging from swimming underwater, the video then shows that the entire area has become encased in what appears to be a thick fog. While no doubt a bug of some kind, the player can't help but note that it makes the game look like something from the famed Silent Hill series.

It's not the craziest Skyrim glitch around, but it certainly is a little odd and gives the world a rather unsettling vibe. Thankfully, the bug seems to mend itself once the player enters their home. One user commented in the Reddit thread that it's likely no coincidence that this occurred after they got out of the water. Somehow, the game gets confused and, while the player is back on land, it still creates a visual effect of being underwater. It's definitely harmless, but it's just one more in an ever-increasing list of bugs and issues that have plagued Bethesda games for years.
