Fighting roguelite Sifu seemed like a rather unique game from its first trailer. Rather than having the player reset at the start of a level or the game when they die, instead they increase in age exponentially, eventually having to restart the game once they reach an age of over 70. Sifu has seen positive reception from both critics and players since its release, as the game was one of many anticipated releases in February 2022.
Sifu's plot is a simple revenge story to begin with, following a young man who survives a raid on a martial arts school and decides to take revenge on those who killed his sifu. The game's story takes place in modern-day China, relying heavily on an influence of Chinese culture in both the combat and design of Sifu. Due to this clear connection to China, fans of the game were surprised to find out that there wasn't initially a Mandarin Chinese voice option.

However, a new update looks to change this. Developer Sloclap has been working on improving and updating Sifu since launch, bringing balance patches and new options, with the latest of these being the addition of Chinese Mandarin voice-overs which are now live on the Epic Games and PlayStation Stores. As Sifu is currently a PC and Sony exclusive, there's no word on when an Xbox version of the game will be arriving.
It seems like Sloclap went the extra mile to ensure the voice-overs were authentic though, with a mention in the tweet posted to the developer's Twitter on the use of Shanghai studios for the recording sessions.
