Covid is not yet over and the fear of the disease can still be seen among people in China. The panic is massive and it has caused Apple iPhone workers in China to flee the Foxconn factory. Yes, the outbreak of coronavirus in China is again in the news and it had generated a shocking worker exodus in Zhengzhou city. Recently a video is circulating all over the Chinese social media platforms showing people said to be the employees of Apple iPhone 14 manufacturer Foxconn escaping by leaping over fences and moving down a road while carrying their possessions amid the report of 20000 people being infected by Covid. According to a report by AP, "Workers who assemble Apple Inc. 's new iPhone have walked out of their factory in northern China to avoid COVID-19 curbs after some coworkers were quarantined following a virus outbreak."
Stephen McDonell (@StephenMcDonell), China Correspondent BBC, shared a video on his Twitter handle showing people jumping off the fence and said, "Workers have broken out of #Apple's largest assembly site, escaping the Zero #Covid lockdown at Foxconn in #Zhengzhou. After sneaking out, they're walking to home towns more than 100 kilometres away to beat the Covid app measures designed to control people and stop this."
It can be known that Foxconn in Zhengzhou, Henan province provides the facility for assembling for Apple, including its most recent iPhone 14 handsets, in China. It has space to accommodate a whopping up to 350000 people. However, it is not known how many employees work at the Zhengzhou factory currently, how many have left, and how many were impacted by the Covid 19 virus at the factory.
