Ship of Heroes is now on Steam, and Heroic Games is marketing the new steam page with some never before seen screenshots, a new gameplay trailer put together from in-game footage, and a new blog.
This newest development is accompanied by a request for feedback on the new page, as well as an appeal to wishlist the game on that shiny new Steam page to indicate demand. This will help the team assess just how much server capacity they should plan to have ready for launch, and marks another step further to that eventual release.
The newest devblog accompanying the announcement features some new screenshots that even beta testers haven’t yet been privy to, and details on why they went with Steam. The team originally planned to release Ship of Heroes independently, without an outside platform. “During our Betas, several players reported needing hours to download the game, and hours more for every patch”, and that kind of frustration is never a good thing.
Back in 2021, they even looked at creating their own patcher. After two successful housing betas on Steam, the team notes that patch times are way down, to minutes at this time.
This also means that a next phase is happening. Wishlisting on Steam and releasing the new footage and new screenshots are in preparation of the launch down the line. They're also planning events, including one in the near future, to stress test the server structure, including starting all the new players in the character creator and hoping it doesn't become a bottleneck.
Ship of Heroes is still on track to launch by the end of 2023, so we should be seeing a lot more regular updates from testing to features. Head over to the new Steam page for more details and, of course,to wishlist the game
