Do you remember August last year, when we showed you the debut trailer for Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness? What a time that was. Well, it’s been cancelled. But we’ve still got the memories, right?
The cancellation was reported by Gamecast and Gamemeca, and is apparently due to financial instability at the dev. The game was due to be a free to play tactical battler that brought the Shining Force series kicking and screaming into the modern world.
But in an shareholders’ meeting, it was announced that development on the title had stopped. Here’s a trailer that now serves only as a monument to the pressures of capitalist game development.
We’ve seen plenty of old-school RPGs getting the free to play treatment over the past few years, but Shining Force now isn’t going to be one of them. At least not in the foreseeable future.
So there you go. Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness has been cancelled. We’ll allow you some time to work through your feelings in private now.
