After the swift defeat of Nuwa, Shin Megami Tensi 5 finally decides to reveal its plot. This leads to your encounter with the big-bad of the next area - Lahmu. Lahmu is big, grotesque, and hell-bent on devouring his human counterpart to transcend demonhood. It’s down to you to stop him.

Thankfully, Lahmu is not at full power when you fight him. He is still a mere demon - a shell of his true self. Unfortunately, Lahmu is also a pushover. He lacks attacks, his stats are not exactly stellar, and he is more of a gimmick than a real threat.
You will fight Lahmu a second time later in the game, and he is much more powerful.
Lahmu’s potentials aren’t as eye-wateringly high as Nuwa's, but he has a more rounded lineup with solid Dark and Status Potentials and decent Physical and Fire ones. Unfortunately, as you will soon discover, Lahmu doesn’t use his Potentials to his advantage (for the most part).
Lahmu only has one attack, and that attack is not exactly great. Whilst Mudo has a chance to instantly kill a party member, that member has to be weak to the element for it to happen. This is easily countered - even if you don’t bring resistance.
Mudo is also the weakest form of Dark magic, and Lahmu doesn’t have a great Magic stat. If he isn’t instantly killing you, he isn’t doing much. Topping it all off is Mudo’s targeting limitations. It’s a single target spell, making it much cheaper (and easier) to heal than its AOE variant.
Lahmu is a bit of a wet noodle.
Lahmu is understandably immune to Dark magic himself, as well as being resistant to fire. Like most Dark-based demons, Lahmu is susceptible to Light but is also weak to Force. This gives you plenty of attack
