Capsule Toys have been an iconic part of the Shenmue series since the first game was released in 1999, and Shenmue 3 is no different. The items, which range from cute recreations of classic characters in the series to golden Buddha statues, are an absolute must-have.

Shenmue 3 sees capsule toys making a return, with slight differences since the game is no longer published by Sega. Sadly, this means your Shenmue 2 collection cannot be transferred, and you'll have to start it from scratch once more.
Capsule toys are collectibles found throughout the world of Shenmue 3. They resemble little gashapon figurines and are obtained through coin machines.
Each turn of a capsule toy machine costs ¥5. Which toy you get is left up to random chance. However, each set has its own separate machines, so you can focus on the sets you haven't completed.
There are 30 sets overall, with each set containing anywhere from five to eight toys each, depending on the set. All sets have machines in Niaowu, but some are obtainable early on in Bailu Village.
Due to the random chance of the machines giving you a particular item, duplicates are possible. If you find yourself getting duplicates, you can sell them in a pawnshop.
