One of the greatest benefits of PC gaming comes from the creative mods the community produces, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a game rife with modding opportunities. One Sekiro player modded his game to switch out the eponymous player character with Sephiroth, the infamous katana-wielding antagonist from Final Fantasy 7.
The mod itself was made by Victor_Gopher and Forsakensilver back in 2020. With the massive popularity of Elden Ring, many players are returning to older FromSoftware games like Sekiro and are now getting the chance to check out this mod for the first time.

Among those returning to older FromSoftware games is artist and streamer JimJimPants, who showed off the mod on the Final Fantasy Reddit. He recently began a playthrough of the game with the mods, which he streams on his Twitch, RedPandaGamrRPG. Though he has only just begun, he has plenty of gameplay videos of his Sephiroth Sekiro playthrough available on his channel already.
The mod is far from perfect; the facial expressions can be a bit odd, and the physics of Sephiroth’s absurdly long hair is far from perfect, but that is to be expected from third-party mods. Despite the clipping and glitches, the mod is pretty great. While Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an action game like Sekiro, it is far from a Soulslike title–if players want to experience the tight and gritty combat of FromSoftware games with Final Fantasy 7 characters, this mod is perfect for them.
The mod fits surprisingly well with the story. While Sephiroth’s black leather jacket does not necessarily fit late 1600s Japan, his fighting style certainly does. What’s more, Sekiro’s English voice actor, Noshir Dalal, sounds somewhat
