Marvel's upcoming Secret Invasion series could potentially undo Captain Marvel's Skrulls twist, teases MCU star Cobie Smulders. As one of Marvel's most exciting additions to their upcoming Disney+ slate, Secret Invasion is expected to hit screens early next year and will mark the return of S.H.I.E.L.D director and fan-favorite character Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The series will also welcome back Smulders as Maria Hill, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos.
Alongside this standout returning cast, audiences are eagerly anticipating both Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman's arrivals into the MCU, with both stars set to appear in currently undisclosed roles. Following the introduction of the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, the series is set to further expand on their MCU presence and explore their infiltration of planet Earth through their shape-shifting abilities, in a storyline that looks set to follow a similar line as the comics. Captain Marvel flipped the script on previous comic-book depictions of the Skrulls, which have portrayed them as villains in the past, though it now seems as though this could all be about to change.
