Sea of Thieves now has guilds. It is one of the major new features added to start Season Ten, designed to give more ways to play with friends, connect, and even share progress.
It's just the beginning of what is coming in Season 10, but Rare really wanted to emphasize a season that gave players opportunities to play their way and connect with others. Guilds are the biggest way they can do that in this update. There's a limit of 24 players per guild and each person can join a maximum of three different guilds. The feature is designed to be more of an intimate shared experience. They emphasize that 24 is a cap that lets you know everybody in your guild, and this facilitates shared progress and feeling more like a team.
When you join a guild, one of the things you can do is to pledge your ship if you are a captain, to that guild. This lets you contribute to shared guild Reputation, and the rewards that the guild can unlock together as well. When it comes to shared progress, if you pledge your ship to the guild, other members can use them while you are offline. So, any ship you pledge to guild service and somebody else uses, that will continue to progress ship milestones that you were already working on, in addition to earning guild progression. Your buddy can take your ship out, meet new milestones for you and also help the guild to unlock new rewards for all. Best of all, all your customizations are safe even if someone uses your ship for a while
As your guild earns Reputation, you can earn new levels of Distinction, which upgrades your guild plaque and reputation cards. You can also set sail as a guild Emissary, with only one person needed to do that, and Take on a risk versus reward challenge.
This is just the beginning
