The Scottish games industry has raised over £66,000 for Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital, via its Games for the Weans campaign.
The campaign, which won a Glasgow Business Award in October, has received support from across the Scottish games industry since, including donations raised by No Code, Nerial, Geek-aboo, and Ninja Kiwi.
This includes funds raised by the first ever Scottish Games Steam Sale, curated by Neonhive, which launched in September and featured over 100 different games and demos from Scottish developers and publishers.
The sale included games like the recently released Viewfinder, a first-person puzzle game where players take photos with an instant camera and use those photos to manipulate the environment.
The funds raised as part of the Games for the Weans campaign will go towards buying adapted gaming equipment, consoles and video games for children across Scotland who are treated at the children’s hospital in Glasgow, as well as the hospital’s Play Team, which ensures children in hospital always have someone to play with.
The charity has also begun to seek gaming volunteers to play games with children in the hospital.

“From solo developers turning their passion projects into fundraisers, to larger studios walking for Scotland’s youngest gamers in hospital, it has been a joy to see Games for the Weans unfold in 2023.
