Samsung plans to hold a Galaxy Unpacked event in late July in its hometown of Seoul, South Korea. These summer Unpacked events have showcased new foldables for the past several years and the teases from Samsung all but guarantee that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 are on deck. Samsung's next Unpacked event will start off at 4 a.m. PT / 7 a.m. ET on Wednesday, July 26. Samsung typically holds its summer showcase in August, so this year's appears to be set a week or two earlier than normal. Here's how to watch the event live.
The event will take place in Samsung's home of Seoul, marking the first time the company has invited the world to its headquarters location. "Hosting Unpacked in Seoul holds great significance both as it is a city that has become an emerging epicenter of innovation and culture as well as the foldable [phone] category," said Samsung chief TM Roh in a statement.
While there are no official images of the new phones, a blog post penned by TM Roh says(Opens in a new window) that the company will be making its latest foldables slimmer and lighter than the previous generations. Samsung's invitation(Opens in a new window) does tease a new Flip with an image of a semi-open foldable phone lighting up the text, "Join the flip side," but the company does not outright say it is the Flip 5.
Not to worry, because online leaks have given us a basic idea of what we'll see from Samsung soon.
