Run the World actress Andrea Bordeaux has reacted to her exit from the show ahead of season 2. Starz's wildly acclaimed Harlem-set comedy Run the World began airing in 2021. The show revolves around 4 spirited Black women in their thirties — Whitney (Amber Stevens West), Ella (Bordeaux), Renee (Bresha Webb), and Sondi (Corbin Reid) — as they explore their personal and professional lives while holding on to each other and breaking stereotypes. Due to its popularity, Starz handed out a renewal to Run the World a month after it concluded its freshman run but on Thursday, it was announced that Bordeaux wouldn't be joining the rest of her castmates for season 2, as she failed to fulfill the requirement that all cast and crew be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Unsurprisingly, Bordeaux's exit has sparked some heated conversations within the show's fanbase and among the general public, and now the actress has broken her silence, detailing the specifics of her departure on Instagram. As per B0rdeaux, it wasn't her decision to quit the show — rather she was let go by Lionsgate, which produces the series, for failing to comply with its vaccine mandate. Bordeaux elaborated that she had a wonderful time playing Ella and that she would have loved to continue her journey on the show, but at the moment, that is not possible. Additionally, the actress also reflected on her personal beliefs, while sharing her thoughts about the mandatory vaccination policy that companies across the globe are increasingly adopting in view of the pandemic's fluidity and seriousness.
