Since then, the makers behind the iconic franchise have been looking for a replacement, and it seems they have finally found their James Bond.
A new rumor has suggested that the makers of the James Bond series have found the actor to play the iconic agent. According to a report in The Sun, a source has claimed that Aaron-Taylor Johnson has been made the offer and the producers are waiting for him to accept the role.
The source also claimed that the Avengers: Age of Ultron star will soon be signing the contract. Citing the source, The Sun noted, “Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table, and [the studio] is waiting to hear back. As far as Eon [Productions] is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days, and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”The source also mentioned that Johnson is the “perfect person” to replace Craig as the next Bond.
For several months, it has been reported that Johnson is in negotiations to play the legendary character in the upcoming films. Last year, Johnson reportedly gave an audition and mesmerized the producers with his skills. Since then, the producers have been talking to him about the role. Johnson gained popularity after his role in the 2010 film Kick-Ass. Over the years, he has been a part of a couple of big movie franchises, such as Godzilla and the Avengers. Apart from that, the actor would next be seen playing the role of Kraven the Hunter in the upcoming Marvel movie of the same name. Despite delays caused by Hollywood strikes, insiders report that work on the script for the new James Bond movie is currently underway. Filming is expected to commence in Buckinghamshire later this year.
