When Immortals Fenyx Rising first released, a lot of gamers looked at the open-world title and compared it heavily to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. While the games did have similarities, many who picked up Immortals Fenyx Rising found that the Greek mythology-inspired game was more than just a clone, and had a lot of elements that made it worth playing. Enough people had this realization and bought the game to the point that Ubisoft allegedly began working on a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising.
Reports came in earlier this year that a sequel to the open-world title was potentially in the works. Immediately, fans began speculating on what this sequel could look like. Considering the first Immortals Fenyx Rising title dealt with Greek mythology, it seemed to make sense that a new game could depart from that and look towards a new setting. Now, it appears that the sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising will be heading for a Polynesian mythology focus, departing from much of the foundations set by the first game.
Leaker Claims Ubisoft Has Over 20 Games Lined Up for Announcement
This rumor comes from industry insider and games journalist Jeff Grubb, who mentioned this change in his Game Mess Decides podcast. Ultimately, Grubb indicated that the Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel is not a proper sequel and acts more as a spin-off to the first game. Allegedly as well, the Immortals title will be ditched, and the «production» name of the game is Oxygen You're a Hero, but it's unknown if this is just a development name or intended to be the actual title. Like other recent Ubisoft games such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, the game will feature a choice of a male or female protagonist.
