On-rails arcade shooter series The House of the Dead premiered in 1996 and can be considered the codifier of arcade shooters. The House of the Dead is currently lined up for a modern recreation, and rumors are currently circulating to hint at a PS4 release alongside other consoles.
The House of the Dead: Remake is being developed by Forever Entertainment and Megapixel Studio, set for release on April 7. The release for the remake is for Stadia and Nintendo Switch with physical releases to follow, but now there are upcoming rumors that the PlayStation 4 will also join the release roster.

The remake's release trailer shows the Switch's capability, but PS4 servers have currently got a tile image that bears the House of the Dead remake reveal. All advertised gameplay keeps a lot of the original's features, with players taking on hordes of undead monsters in a fast-paced rail shooter environment. A recent Nintendo Q+A went into detail about how the Switch makes up for the updated controls, such as «gyro aiming controls combined with analog buttons.»
A House of the Dead remake has been in the works since 2019, aiming to rebuild the experience from the ground up for the current gaming generation. An eagle-eyed Reddit user posted the revelation that an entry for The House of the Dead: Remake had been published on the tail end of the PlayStation Network, under the following title and concept IDs of «CUSA29479_00» and «10003342».
