Fortnite is one of the most popular games out there at the moment, and while much of this comes from its status as the king of collaborations and crossovers, the title still has some solid mechanics behind it. Just as Fortnite is constantly adding new crossover skins, it's also constantly tweaking existing gameplay features and adding new ones. Now, there's a rumor that the game could be adding a new "Tactical Sprint" mechanic in the future.
HYPEX, a well-known Fortnite leaker and dataminer, reported on the rumor and stated that the Tactical Sprint mechanic was already in development. This isn't the first time HYPEX has reported on a leak about a new Fortnite mechanic--they also discussed the game's then in-progress Slide mechanic, which was recently implemented.

According to HYPEX's recent post on Twitter, the Tactical Sprint mechanic will have at least one other thing in common with the Slide mechanic. When players activate the mechanic, the camera will reportedly shake just like it does when Fortnite players are sliding. Additionally, it appears that the Tactical Sprint will also be a form of quick transit that can be used to damage foes. Hopefully, this mechanic will be easier to use on level ground than the Slide is.
Some gamers may notice a similarity between Fortnite's proposed new feature and an existing feature in Call of Duty: Warzone.
