February is finally here and that means a lot of new game releases. One of the most hotly anticipated releases, in not only February but the entire year, is FromSoftware's Elden Ring. Hype throughout the gaming community for Elden Ring seems to be at a fever pitch as gamers just want the game in their hands already. While it'll still be a few more weeks until the game is downloading on consoles worldwide, it seems details of Elden Ring's release are leaking out, including the game's file size requirements.
While just a rumor at this point, some folks on Twitter have noticed that the promotional box for Elden Ring states the file sizes for both PS4 and PS5. Keep in mind this isn't official news yet, so the amount of storage space needed is still up in the air. However, according to the box, PS4 owners will be looking at needing 60GB of free space on their hard drives, while PS5 owners will need a little more at 80GB. This is quite a bit larger than the file sizes needed for both Dark Souls 3 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, however it is likely attributed to the more open world aspect of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Will Use EasyAntiCheat to Combat Cheaters
Of course some may question why both versions require different file sizes and why the PS5 demands more. It is likely that Elden Ring on PS5 needs the extra memory to both run at 60fps and for higher resolution assets to be loaded in and held put to avoid any pop-in. FromSoftware games are usually pretty polished when they come out, so gamers should expect no different from the release of Elden Ring.
