Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke revealed that Robert Pattison got way too into his audition scene with Kristen Stewart, which had them kissing on her bed. Hardwicke directed the 2008 film adaption of Stephanie Meyer's bestselling supernatural young adult novels, which centered on a love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. In Harry Potter-like fashion, the movies multiplied the book's already massive fanbase, putting faces to the franchise's beloved characters. When the time came to turn them into movies, the casting process was fairly arduous.
As fate would have it, Stewart earned the leading role of Bella Swan, a seventeen-year-old outcast who moves to a small town called Forks to live with her father. Bella becomes enraptured by Pattison's character Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who winds up being a vampire. The performers' chemistry was palpable both on and offscreen as they navigated intense fan shipping, a real-life relationship, and press scrutiny over the course of four follow-up films. Apparently, their chemistry sizzled as early as the audition stages.

Apparently, Stewart and Pattison tested their chemistry by doing a scene that required them to make out on Hardwicke's own bed as she filmed. The director candidly revealed:
«Rob and Kristen auditioned on my bed, the kissing scene, Rob was so into it he fell off the bed. I'm like, 'Dude, calm down.' And I'm in there filming with my little video camera, whatever.»
It seems the spark between Stewart and Pattison was strong enough to throw the latter off
