Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing revealed the sniper Railgunner, a brand new Survivor coming to Risk of Rain 2 in the upcoming Survivors of the Void expansion pack. Risk of Rain 2 is the third-person successor to Risk of Rain — a 2D platformer with randomized elements — that brought the titanic beasts and loads of loot to the 3D plane. The sequel has since established itself as one of the best roguelike games to release in recent memory, maintaining an overwhelmingly positive review average on Steam and successfully releasing on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Risk of Rain 2 was in Early Access since March of 2019 before it officially launched in August 2020. Since then, however, the developers have not done much to expand the game, with most of the updates being bug fixes and minor changes. The first major expansion has been teased for over a year now and was originally set to launch in the last quarter of 2021. The expansion was expected to be around two to three content updates in size — larger than the content update the game got during its official launch. Risk of Rain 2 received an Anniversary Update in March 2021, which added the Bandit Survivor, five new items, and five skill variants, among other features.
