With its Soulslike outings in Nioh, Nioh 2, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team Ninja has consistently delivered one solid game after another over the last few years, and though its next title is looking to be quite different from the aforementioned trio, it’s turned more than a few heads nonetheless. Officially announced last year, Rise of the Ronin is promising an open world action RPG experience set in late 19th century Japan during the end of the Edo period, and though details on the game have been scant since its unveiling, some new information may have emerged through a fresh leak.
Coming from the Discord channel of prominent leaker The Snitch, as per these new details, Rise of the Ronin is set to be a cross between the likes of Assassin’s Creed, Ghost of Tsushima, and Dark Souls. Similar to FromSoftware’s series, it will allegedly use item descriptions to expand its world’s lore and backstory, while it will also allegedly have a smattering of optional open world activities and content on offer that will be similar to Assassin’s Creed games.
As per the leak, Rise of the Ronin will also feature multiple difficulty options, which hasn’t been the case in Team Ninja’s recent titles, and will also have romance options for players to engage in. Multiple upgrade trees for unique skills and techniques will also allegedly be featured. The game will also allegedly feature both a Performance and Resolution mode at launch, with the developers currently “trying to improve fidelity before launch”.
Speaking of which, the leak claims Rise of the Ronin is currently tagreting a Q1 2024 release. When announced last year, the game’s official launch window was slated for 2024.
