Team Ninja, the developers behind Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, have released the first episode in a behind-the-scenes video series focused on the game development of its forthcoming open-world action RPG, Rise of the Ronin.
The video gives players a look at the three major cities of Japan’s Edo Era, which are being meticulously recreated for the game. Those cities include Edo (Tokyo), Yokohama, and Kyoto. The cities are being designed to blend traditional Japanese beauty with newly introduced Western culture.
Players will be able to explore these cities in Rise of the Ronin and take in iconic landmarks such as Yokohama’s U.S. Consulate and Chinatown, the Sensoji Temple in Edo’s Asakusa district, and the Gosho and Mibu districts in Kyoto.
The game will offer players a variety of traversal methods, including grappling ropes, horses, and gliders. There’s plenty to do outside of exploration, as well. Players can take part in various encounters and activities, obstacle courses, defeat rogues to keep the public order, and Grass Roots missions to aid various locals and build relationships with them.
Rise of the Ronin arrives exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on March 22.
