Shortly after announcing her departure in September 2020, NeNe launched a boycott against the network that helped turn her into a household name. Many were taken aback by the claims, considering the reports of NeNe being the highest-paid housewife across all franchises at the time she left. When announcing her exit, NeNe made mention of failed contract negotiations. However, she later accused producers of forcing her off the show.
