Devolver Digital released a teaser trailer of the game, which didn’t show much footage of it in action, only those behind it. Lucasfilm Games will be part of the project along with Terrible Toybox, which is Ron Gilbert’s game studio. Gilbert was responsible for several LucasArts games including the first two titles. It’s also going to be a follow-up to and, meaning it is possibly forgetting about the later entries Gilbert didn’t work on.
Gilbert said on Twitter that the team had been making it for two years in “complete secrecy.” “Complete secrecy” might be somewhat of a inaccurate label since he also somewhat spilled the beans on April 1, 2022 where he posted a blog revealing that he was making a game. Given the jokey nature of the day, many did not read too heavily into it. It’s also a callback to a September 2013 tweet he made saying that if he were making a game, he’d announce it on April Fools’ Day.
