The Resident Evil 4 remake is targeting newer console hardware and PC. But today, Capcom confirms it is also bringing the Resident Evil 4 remake to PS4.
During today’s Tokyo Game Show 2022 presentation, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that Resident Evil 4 that the team had been looking into ways to bring RE4 to previous generation hardware. Because of that, Resident Evil 4 is now also in development for PS4. He doesn’t mention Xbox One though, so it seems like that console’s left off the list for now, at least.
Hirabayashi also confirms there is a Resident Evil Showcase planned for next month. No exact date has been set for that as of this writing.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is the latest RE remake from Capcom. It’s set to re-tell the events of Leon Kennedy’s rescue of the president’s daughter, in what’s likely one of the most well-remembered entries in the Resident Evil series.
RE4 was long-rumored to be in development when it was finally revealed back in June, and it’s not a long wait until it’s out, either. Capcom has locked in a March 24, 2023 release date for Resident Evil 4.
The studio is also planning on PlayStation VR 2 content. It’s likely we’ll see more of what it has planned for RE4 in particular at next month’s Resident Evil showcase. But with this news, at least PlayStation 4 owners won’t have to upgrade immediately to experience Leon’s adventure in new detail all over again.
